Why you need a web hosting service

When we are using a computer, we store our data on the hard drive of our computer. Same as that when we create a website we need someplace to store our website files. To do that we need to buy a hosting service. Hosting providers maintain advanced computers called servers to store websites. Buying a web hosting means we buy some disk space from their web server to store our website files. We pay them to maintain and do the technical stuff for us on the server. However, there are some limitations on some services.

Types of Web Hosting

There are four types of web hosting services to choose from according to your needs.

  1. Shared Hosting
  2. VPS Hosting
  3. Dedicated Hosting
  4. Cloud Hosting

Shared Hosting

Shared hosting means we are using a shared disk space with some other websites. there is more than one website using the same server space. It’s similar to we use public transport services to travel. If we travel on a train, we can see there are some other people are using the train to travel. Same as us, they buy a ticket and use the train. The same describes shared web hosting. This type of hosting is very cheap compared to others. If you are a beginner or you are creating a small website like a blog, you can use a shared hosting service.

VPS Hosting ( Virtual Private Server )

Virtual Private Server means the hosting provider creates virtual servers on one physical server. Then we can buy that virtual server to store and host our website on the internet. Compared to the shared hosting, VPS hosting is expensive but also performance is better than the shared hosting. For example, Your website will load more faster on a VPS hosting than shared hosting. It’s like using a taxi. only you travel but still, the taxi does not belong to you.

Dedicated Hosting

Dedicated hosting is like you drive your own car. The car is yours and you have full control. But you need to spend some extra money to buy a car. The same goes for dedicated hosting. Only your website is on that server. No need to worry about other websites that slow down the server. You have full control of the server. Go for a dedicated server if you are expecting large traffic to your website. Also, you will have to spend more money to buy a dedicated hosting service. especially if you are planning to create an e-commerce website, I recommend the dedicated server.

Cloud Hosting

When this method, more than one server is working to host websites. This is also a type of shared hosting. But unlike shared hosting, the other websites hosted on this server will not affect your website. If you choose a cloud hosting, you cannot access the root of the server. Also, you have some limited control. Go for cloud hosting if you have a small website but have large amount of traffic.

Read this before buying a hosting service

Mainly you need to check three things before buying web hosting.

  1. Disk Space
  2. Bandwith
  3. SSL certificate
  4. Customer Service

Disk Space

Disk space is how much data you can store on the server. For example, if you buy a 1GB disk space hosting plan means you can store the 1GB data only. So decide how much space you need for your website before you buy it. If not you will have to change the hosting plan again.

Bandwith

Simply the network speed of your website. This is the speed that data transferred through the network between web servers and visitors. That means how many users can access your website at the same time. If the bandwidth is low and your website has more traffic, your visitors will feel that your website is slow. more bandwidth is better. Check the hosting plan before buy.

Customer Service

Even you sleep or take a rest, your website is not sleeping or resting. It is live 24/7. So if you had any problem with your hosting server, you will need a quick solution. Before buying a hosting service, check the quality of the customer service of that company. If you cannot contact them in an emergency situation, that means their service is not good.
